What do you guys think of this idea?

Is it just me or is everyone getting code gibberish when they are uploading their pics? Well here is a photo of something I am thinking of making. It is a juice bottle cap that I painted with acrylic paint and stuck an eyelet hook on it to make a pendant. I painted the inside and outside with colors that would look good together. I'm thinking of putting a wire wrapped jewel and hang it on the end of the eyelet hook where the green part is. On the back brown side I'm thinking of painting a pic of a mushroom or lotus flower. Just a simple image. Then seal everything with a clear lacquer and pair it with a leather cord or silver ball chain. I like things that have dual purposes, hence the double sided pendant idea, woohoo! So what do you all think? Crazy or good idea? Think I should change anything?

PS: Notice my lovely tumbled stone ring, just used E6000 glue and a ring base. I don't think I am going to put these in my shop though until I know for sure the stone won't fall off.

Harder than I thought but still having fun

It has been awhile since I posted. I have been busy learning the ropes at Etsy and making more jewelry. I am still having a blast. John (husband) says he is really proud of me for sticking with this and that he really thinks I am doing a great job. I am pleasantly surprised that he has been so supportive. I think in some way he is living his own creativity through me. He used to create and sell furniture back in the day. I try to encourage him to get back in touch with his creativity but he seems more interested in helping me for some reason.

I have to start thinking of promoting my stuff if I want to sell anything. But to be honest that is not a main priority. I really am just enjoying the whole process. I have been at my day job for over 10 years working with boring numbers so I get very excited when I get to do something more fun. So far commenting on the forums and posting new items has gotten me the most recognition. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback and also some constructive critism. The whole Etsy environment is awesome! Everyone is so supportive of each other and very honest. I find myself hanging out over there more often now than Facebook! But Facebook is a necessary evil, most of my family and friends are on there and I don't want to lose touch of that reality.

I have also been posting pics to my Flickr account which hasn't really done anything but I am able to track which pics get the most views and which items people include in their favorites. I want to next join an Etsy team. I contacted the leader from one of the teams I was interested in and she likes my stuff and will take me in but I need to have at least 2 pages of stuff on my shop (group requirement). I am pretty close so I will contact her again in a week or two. Until next time!

My Etsy Shop is Open!

Here is the link to my shop KARMIC KREATIONS on Etsy. I'm so excited! It is like I am playing make believe by having my own "shop" LOL. This whole process is so much fun. It is also nice to have a creative outlet and use my business background at the same time.

Can I really make jewelry?!

Starting a new blog today for my latest addiction...jewelry making. I have always enjoyed crafting, I love digging into my creative side and get excited whenever I am working on a project. It is hard for me to share my creative side because of my insecurities. But I am always willing to try something new and challenge myself. I have a bad habit of starting things and then getting bored with it but so far I am really enjoying the jewelry I'm making. I try to make things that I would actually wear. I have a very simplistic style but I love variety. I think the beauty of making my own things is that I can basically create whatever I want and I can change things around whenever I get bored. So I am confident that I will stick with this for awhile. Until next time:)
